Professional Year Program

The Professional Year Programis primarily designed for students wishing to apply for permanent residency in Australia. This program allows the students to develop industry-specific skills through study and work experience, preparing them for professional careers in Australian work force.

There are three courses to choose from, depending on your industry:

  • Skilled Migration Internship Program - Accounting (SMIPA)
  • Australian Computer Society (ACS)Professional Year Program
  • Engineers Australia’s Professional Year in Engineering

Benefits:

  • Qualify for migration points towards permanent residence. Most students will be eligible to receive 5 (five) extra points when applying for residence. More information on www. border.gov.au
  • Students will get good exposure and understanding culture and practices of Australian workforce
  • Get valuable work experience in Australian company through internships

Benefits:

To qualify for the Professional Year Program, students must:

  • have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate award in Australia in a relevant field of study
  • hold or applied for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485, either stream) with at least 12 months validity or;
  • hold an eligible Secondary Visa with work and study rights with at least 12 months validity
  • provide evidence of English language proficiency
  • provide a valid skills assessment from a relevant professional association

Offshore university graduates may be eligible to complete the Professional Year in Engineering on a 476 visa. For further information visit the Engineering Education Australia website.
